These are some of my favorite images from the last few years. Under each is a brief story behind the image and where and when it was taken. All of these images print well large or small. SmugMug offers some great options for ready-to-hang images including ThinWraps (my favorite), canvas and metal. I've noted any preferences for paper in the caption under each image. Signed, exhibition quality prints up to 12 x 18 are also available of any image you see here, on my website ( http://www.daveschmidtphoto.com) or on flickr ( http://www.flickr.com/vt-lite/). Contact me directly at dsphoto(at)comcast.net. See something you like? - "like" it, "tweet" it or buy it! (or all three!). Enjoy. dave

One of the most interesting buildings in Vermont is the Breeding Barn at Shelburne Farms. It is off the main property and requires either local knowledge or luck to find it. It is one of the largest wooden structures in the northeast. It is generally open if you walk in. The floor is dirt but the ceiling is this intricate maze of wood. Go to the north end and look straight up and this is what you will see. You will also see this if you happen to be in the right hotel in Taipei, Taiwan where they have printed this as a mural and put it on the ceiling of several quest rooms. Shelburne, Vermont. February, 2008.

Getting two cows to cooperate with a camera is pure luck. Within a few seconds of this image they were wandering off quickly. Having this encounter on a day with a beautiful sky made it even more special. I've driven past this spot a few hundred times since and never seen a shot possibility close to this. Sunset Hill Rd, Williston, Vermont. Taken June 2007.
Taken on a hike up Stowe Pinnacle with my son's class in the fall of 2009.
I had a staring contest with this guy on top of the Empire State Building. This prints well in a smaller size and I've done them on the metal for a humorous addition to a wall. New York, NY. April, 2008.
Found this cow on an early morning shoot behind the Breeding Barn on Shelburne Farms. This image prints very nicely as ready-to-hang metallic-satin ThinWrap. Shelburne, Vermont. June, 2010
Last summer Shelburne Museum hosted an exhibit of motorcycles. The day I visited, this bike was parked outside. The bike is a Ural, a "modern" Russian bike with a history that dates back to just prior to WWII. The design has changed little since. Whether the designs were stolen from BWM or given to them is still debated (read more here: http://www.imz-ural.com/factory/). The photo was taken with a small flash that allows the bike to feel almost 3-D against the fall sky. Taken October 2009. Shelburne, Vermont.
